How I learned not to quit | Finding Strength from Jesus
How to learn not to quit!
Learning is a must for every person born on Earth. No matter what, if we don’t learn, we don’t grow, and if we don’t grow we cant sustain in this life. some people learn the hard way, and some are trained well. Some have in-born talent to learn quickly, while others take hard steps by steps, learn slowly and slowly until they attain a stage where they find they have proved something.
Well, for me, it is the last point that best defines me. Yes, I have learned the hard way, step by step, trying to prove myself at every phase of my life. I never found my inborn talent until it was very late. But, yes, they say “late but on time.”
In order to find purpose, people do a lot of hard work. They gain education, try to get marks, if not, try to find talents through extracurricular activities, performing on-stage, backstage. They find something that would take them or move them further in life challenges. For some, it s a great achievement when they find their hopes and dreams just in the right age so that their career gets settled, and everything aligns with their timelines. Right time to learn, right time to job, career, marriage, children, financial property, etc.
This is the world, and the world always demands something from us. It’s called the laws of the world, or in the biblical sense, “the pattern of the world”. The Bible never encourages us to follow the pattern of the world, because it contradicts the laws of God. No doubt God made his creation world good, but seeing the nature of humans growing evil day by day, where man-made creations were evil in the sight of God, it became an abomination.
God warned his people in the Old Testament to obey him. He was more pleased with his people through their obedience, rather than from their sacrifice. In the New Testament, he forbade his people not to cling to the pattern of the world, because that’s what the heathen or the gentiles do, not knowing the creator, giving the creature the glory instead of the creator.
Changing the nature of God to man-made beasts, wild creatures. We know our God is an invisible God, not made with human hands, rather he is an uncreated one, the supreme one who holds everything, sees the infinite to infinite picture of our timeline.
When it comes to me, it took me years to realize and see the true nature of God. At first, for me. God is someone written in the Bible, who he is, what he does, his calling, Jesus’s sacrifice, forgiveness, heaven, and hell. But I never understood the deeper meaning behind all these. His tiniest details, how he ordains his people. How he qualifies his people whom he calls, and how he subjects them who are willing to live and work for him. His ways are amazing, and his uncountable blessings always flow. It gives much joy to our hearts.
There is actually strength in him, like the scripture says, “I can do all things through him who gives me strength”. Christ is enough for me cause he is the one in control of my life, and I am ready to be controlled by him, to see his greater and wonderful, and amazing course of actions every day. It is dangerous to fall into the hands of the living God, but the view if great when we reach the other side.
There are multiple examples in the Bible that tell about God’s people who never quit, like Elijah, John the Baptist, Stephen, the Disciples of Jesus, Paul, and many more. They stand as a tower, a reflection we should take hold of as an example to follow Christ. Their journey in life gives us assured strength that quitting is never the solution.
Once we quit, we will miss the great opportunity God has paved for us in the days to come ahead. As many have quit, they have never seen the brighter side of their journey of life. It is a dark reflection of sorrow, loss, and misery. They have spoiled their own life, without wanting to turn out from their decisions, without being willing to look for the other shoreline that might bring hope, justice, and fortune.
Their faith has been shattered through doubts and delusions, fear has gripped their hearts, and the devil is trying to win. But, as God’s children, we are not to fear the devil. God protects us from every corner. God knows that the devil will try to harm us, mislead us, trap us, but it is his Jesus’s Holy Spirit, and Word of God, that works as a shield, the sword of Spirit that fights against all principalities of darkness, powers, terrors, evil forces, so that no matter the cause we will escape all the firery darts of hell.
It’s God’s immeasurable love that I learned not to quit. Whenever I fell, He gave me strength. He told me that he is not done with me yet. There is so much to do in this life.
He qualifies those whom he calls. He provides them their exact needs, and in order to work his task in our life, he gives us talents, equips us through gifts and fruits, and enables us that perform all things that we are called to do. And above all, he leads us, guides us, protects us, and preserves us, so that we don’t grow weary or be astray. His still, silent voice speaks to us out of millions of other voices/noises of this world. However, there is so much power in God’s calling and voice that it reaches us anyway.
Sometimes, we are attracted to him, eager to hear him, learn from him, thirst after him, seek him, and find him. There is utmost pleasure in finding him. Sometimes our hearts just know that he is there, surrounding us.
In his name, there is power. In the book of Acts 1, it says that the demonstration of the Holy Spirit not only came in word but also in power, so that men may grow and be equipped in every good work. They should not grow weary when trials and temptations come it. There are noises of the world everywhere. If we are to seek peace in this world, we should follow the example of Christ. He went to solitary places, where he could spend time alone with God the Father. He spent hours listening to him, being guided by him, learning from him, increasing in his wisdom and might.
So that when the hour was at hand, when trials and temptations were at hand, or even when he had to spread the good news about the Kingdom of Heaven, spread his missionary work, ministry work, he was totally prepared to do so. This was because he knew his Heavenly Father was with him wherever he went. His claims, his declarations, he sealed it through the work of the Holy Spirit, which came to him.
Even the power and authority of Heaven and Earth were given to him from above, and so he was able to surpass every fiery dart of the devil.
He called the generations vipers because, knowing good, they did evil. They didn’t turn away from their wicked ways.
Well, in my case, my greatest strength comes from knowing Jesus. It is he who is my role model, and following him is the greatest vision, dream, and objective of my life. He taught me never to quit. He said to his followers in his scripture that, in this world, we will have tribulations, but he has overcome the world.
Since he has already overcome death and sin, we too can obtain it, just by following his steps. He is our everlasting Father, as mentioned in the Old Testament.
Yes, even till today, quitting gets very easy sometimes, when we get weak in faith. There are a lot of examples, both in the scripture and today’s worldly events, where people easily quit. They either quit their job because of intolerance, violence, commit suicide, have a financial crisis, go bankrupt, or lose their loved ones, which breaks their heart. Every person has weak points, and the devil always targets that, in order that believers of Christ are compelled to lose and find their defeat.
But we are not called to do so, but rather to conquer. We must remember Jesus’s word as, “Greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world”. Our greater strength lies within us. We are his Holy Temple, Royal priesthood, Holy nation. God will not want to destroy us, nor does he want us to destroy ourselves.
We should always be diligent to hear his voice and obey him. There is a day coming when people will be thirsty to listen to him. God is calling everyone out in the streets, wisdom is crying out. Hearken to him while he is near. Today, if we hear his voice, we should not harden our hearts.
Let us safeguard our hearts, for out of it springs issues of life.
God bless us all!! In Jesus Name.
